Surfin’ Barry Saves Babies!
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=washingtonstory&sid=a2nC1Wysvtg4
Aug. 14 (Bloomberg) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his supporters are working to win over voters who want to ban or reduce abortions with a call for measures to help women keep their babies.
The party’s platform supports the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling that made abortion legal and adds a twist, saying the party “strongly” backs a woman’s decision to carry a pregnancy to term.
What a revolutionary idea. The Democrat party has decided to switch gears in order to woo pro-lifers by backing a woman’s decision to have a baby. It’s a stunning, Messianic change in policy!
Seriously, though, there’s nothing new here. They’re not changing their pro-abortion stance. Nobody was opposed to mothers keeping their unexpected babies (except for the Margaret Sanger, eugenecist-fascist wing of the party). They’re just promising more cheese for those who decide to keep their babies. Expansion of the welfare state? Check. Don’t threaten Roe v. Wade? Check. Keep federal funding for abortion in tact? Check.
Yep, they’re still Democrats.

Anywhere, anytime
Barack Obama, May 16th, 2008:
“If John McCain wants to meet me anywhere, anytime, to have a debate about our respective policies in Iraq, in Iran, in the Middle East or around the world, that is a conversation I am happy to have,” the Illinois Democrat told reporters at an afternoon news conference in Watertown, S.D. “I believe that there is no separation between John McCain and George Bush when it comes to our Middle East policy and I think their policy has failed.”
August 2nd, 2008:
WASHINGTON – Democratic candidate Barack Obama on Saturday backed further away from rival John McCain’s challenge for a series of Lincoln-Douglas debates, agreeing only to the standard three face-offs in the fall proposed by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
In a letter to the commission, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said the short period between the last political convention and the first proposed debate made it likely that the commission-sponsored debates would be the only ones in the fall.

Obama’s Confusion
Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for Obama, said the senator has “always believed that same-sex couples should enjoy equal rights under the law,” and “that states should make their own decisions when it comes to the issue of marriage.“
In a letter to the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club read Sunday at the group’s annual Pride Breakfast in San Francisco, the Illinois senator said he supports extending “fully equal rights and benefits to same-sex couples under both state and federal law.”
“And that is why I oppose the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other states,” Obama wrote.
States should make their own decisions, unless they disagree with him, in which case they’re being divisive and discriminating. But, typically, it’s hard to nail down what exactly he believes:
“I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.”
And yet, he voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, and opposed the Defense of Marriage Act, which would prevent forcing a state to recognize gay marriages in another state. Furthermore, if his Christian religious beliefs don’t impact his political views, then his personal religiosity is effectively irrelevant. At least, it is until he plays it up again the next time he speaks to a church or religious group. Expect further non-clarifications in the coming days.

Epic!
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/04/jane-fonda-endo.html
OK, so a TMZ reporter asked Jane Fonda who she’s supporting for president. She replies, of course, “Obama!”
Jane Fonda visiting with a North Vietnamese army anti-aircraft gun crew during the Vietnam War. This earned her the nickname Hanoi Jane, and many veterans to this day still feel betrayed by her allowing herself to be manipulated by the North Vietnamese for propaganda purposes.
John McCain, during the 1960’s, a naval bomber pilot, was shot down by North Vietnamese anti-aircraft defenses.
McCain spent five years as a prisoner of war, two of them in solitary confinement. He was tortured while held prisoner, and to this day has limited mobility in his arms.
When he was finally released in 1973, he stayed in the Navy and after rehabilitation regained his flight status and served as the Navy’s liaison to the Senate.

Now, Jane Fonda, who sympathized with the very people who shot down McCain and tortured him and hundreds of other American pilots and soldiers for years has endorsed his presumptive opponent, the jackass upstart and Iraq surrendercrat, Barack Obama.
Now set aside the fact that she’s a certified epic ****. If this doesn’t present a stark contrast between two candidates, I don’t know what does.

Punishment
Obama:
“Look, I got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old,” he said. “I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at age 16, so it doesn’t make sense to not give them information.”
Punishment? Getting pregnant is like getting and STD?
