OK, so a TMZ reporter asked Jane Fonda who she’s supporting for president.  She replies, of course, “Obama!”

Jane Fonda visiting with a North Vietnamese army anti-aircraft gun crew during the Vietnam War.  This earned her the nickname Hanoi Jane, and many veterans to this day still feel betrayed by her allowing herself to be manipulated by the North Vietnamese for propaganda purposes.

John McCain, during the 1960’s, a naval bomber pilot, was shot down by North Vietnamese anti-aircraft defenses.

McCain spent five years as a prisoner of war, two of them in solitary confinement.  He was tortured while held prisoner, and to this day has limited mobility in his arms.

When he was finally released in 1973, he stayed in the Navy and after rehabilitation regained his flight status and served as the Navy’s liaison to the Senate.

Now, Jane Fonda, who sympathized with the very people who shot down McCain and tortured him and hundreds of other American pilots and soldiers for years has endorsed his presumptive opponent, the jackass upstart and Iraq surrendercrat, Barack Obama.

Now set aside the fact that she’s a certified epic ****. If this doesn’t present a stark contrast between two candidates, I don’t know what does.

McCain thought he was gonna get favorable treatment from the media.

“On Monday, the “psychic crime drama” set in Phoenix featured a plot involving a senior Arizona state senator and former prisoner of war who turns out to be a murderous cannibal.”

[McCain] called Mr. Obama a “man of integrity” and said he was someone he had come to know “pretty well and I admire.”

He also said that it was not appropriate to invoke Mr. Obama’s middle name in the course of the campaign.

“I absolutely repudiate such comments,” he said. “It will never happen again.”

Mr. Obama’s middle name, which is Muslim in origin, comes from his late father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a Kenyan.

Mr. Obama’s campaign has been dogged by whispered rumors that he is a Muslim—he is actually a practicing Christian. Periodically, his full name has been bandied about by conservatives critics, drawing indignation from Mr. Obama’s campaign and others.

WHAT? Invoking a presidential candidate’s NAME is off limits? Using his full name is disparaging to his integrity? It’s something you have to APOLOGIZE for?

McCain is going to lose and lose big if this is the kind of nitpicky, touchy-feely stuff he feels compelled to apologize for.

I realize that people are trying to use Obama’s name to try to cast him as some kind of closet muslim. It’s stupid and pointless. There’s enough about Obama’s REAL religious connections to criticize. But you can’t go around apologizing for OTHER people calling your opponent by his full name.

And Obama better get over his thin-skinned whininess about people using his middle name or making fun of his ears. God shall not be mocked.
